Anjaana Anjaani is a story about two strangers…one stranger than the other.

Synopsis

After a medical diagnosis, Rahul discovers that he has only a few months left to live. How he makes the most of this time and how it changes him is what 'Aashayein' is about.

The movie is the tale of Rahul's journey from darkness to light. A journey about love, hate, life, death, and above all, hope.

INFO: The film starts with Simran (Sonam Kapoor), who wakes up to make a romantic movie. She loves bollywood romantic storys; so much so that even her life has begun to resemble one. With her awesome job and a Mr.Perfect named Raj (Sameer Dattani), she lives a blissful, dreamy life. But in the frame comes Jay, who brings a fresh light and joy in her life. Jay (Imran Khan) is an assistant to a director who is famous for his love story films; however, Jay hates love stories. He believes love is nothing but a "sickness" which must be cured. Quite blunt in his ways, he first hates Simran for her "romantic" nature but soon after becomes her best friend. After meeting Jay in a movie theater, and getting irritated by him, Simran leaves with a bad impression of him in her mind. The next day after making Jay her assistant, she plots to get her revenge, but seeing Jay's soft heart behind the cool guy attitude stops her. Soon she develops a bond with Jay, which brings problems in her life with Raj, her fiance. Soon, she falls head over heels in love with him and dreams of spending her entire life with him. She decides to tell him by inviting him to a hotel dinner. But she is awakened from a dream by seeing him kissing another girl's hand. She explains that she loves him and thinks he also in return loves her. Jay explains to her that he never thought of her that way. After being heartbroken, she leaves. The story then unfolds, moving from Mumbai to New Zealand for further shooting of the film and premiere. Simran had not given up her love for Jay until now but Jay began realising that she was going far away from him. He realises his love for her and plays some dramas with his friend Giselle also with the help of his other two friends that arise jealousy in her after seeing him with Gselle. In the end after much talk with his mother, Jay who was about to leave Mumbai, runs back to where the premiere of the film was being held but could not find her. Outside the cinema screen, he finds her and tell her that he loves her very much. She also expresses to him that she loves him and then they embrace. Thus the story comes to an end.

Aisha (2010)

Recall the age-old adage: Marriages are made in heaven. Consummated on earth. But haven’t we encountered lots of people in real life who try to set things up between friends/acquaintances? In fact, they take upon themselves to make matches and meddle in other people’s affairs. That, in a nutshell, is the plotline of AISHA.
Let’s get one thing straight. You are not exploring virgin territory with AISHA. ‘Emma’, the Jane Austen novel, has been adapted on film and television in the past. Although first published in 1815, almost 200 years ago, director Rajshree Ojha and writer Devika Bhagat transport the characters from this novel to present-day New Delhi. But the essence remains the same: A simple plot and an equally simplistic love story.
Unlike most love stories that we’ve witnessed on Hindi screen, there’s no heavy-duty dramebaazi in AISHA, no major hurdles to cross, no parental opposition to encounter, no major conflicts to solve. The director and writer remain faithful to the novel, which prompts you to ponder, wish the relationships were so uncomplicated in today’s times.
But there’s a flipside as well. The film runs a little longer [although the running time is 2 hours] and gets painfully slow in some portions. Besides, AISHA lacks the depth of passion and that could be because the makers were trying to make something lighter and breezier. Sweeping the minor complaints aside, AISHA is watchable for two factors mainly: Neat performances, especially by Sonam Kapoor and Amit Trivedi’s super musical score.
Final word? The romantic buried inside all of us may respond to AISHA well.
Aisha [Sonam Kapoor] is a girl with a simple diktat — everyone’s business is her business. Arjun [Abhay Deol] is a boy with even a simpler set of beliefs — Aisha should mind her own business. Caught in the Delhi upper class world with its own set of social rules, Aisha navigates her world with a great sense of style and even greater optimism.
Caught in her web are her best friend Pinky [Ira Dubey], the small-town girl Shefali [Amrita Puri], the West Delhi boy Randhir [Cyrus Sahukar] and the hunk Dhruv [Arunoday Singh]. Aisha will make sure everyone dances to her tune. And all Arjun wants to do is disentangle that web and get Aisha out of an impending sticky mess.
Director Rajshree Ojha and writer Devika Bhagat introduce the principal characters at the very outset and within minutes, you know their traits as well. The entire first hour is filled with the assorted characters interacting with one another and technically speaking, there’s hardly any movement in the story. In fact, the first hour is more of a collage of incidents and moments put together on a beautiful canvas.
But the wheels start moving towards the post-interval portions, when the lead characters [Abhay, Sonam] suffer from pangs of jealousy and the remaining characters find themselves at crossroads as far as relationships are concerned. From this point onwards, AISHA gets more and more engaging. Note the confrontation sequence between Sonam and Amrita, which leads to a bitter outburst by the latter. Note the sequence when Sonam professes love for Abhay at a marriage reception, only to realise later that she had walked into a wrong venue. Note the finale, which is very Mills & Boon type of culmination. Well penned and well executed sequences!
Director Rajshree Ojha has handled several moments well, but how one wishes she would’ve spruced up the proceedings by coming straight to the point, instead of depicting Abhay and Sonam in sulking moods in several sequences of the second hour. Also, from the writing point of view, Cyrus and Ira Dubey suddenly realise that they are made for each other. Why this sudden pyaar? Didn’t they detest each other? Loving the same musician doesn’t imply you are made for each other! There had to be a scene or two to indicate that they are drawn towards each other.
The production design [Shruti Gupte] is impressive. The film bears a striking look all through. The styling of all characters is up to the mark. The costume designers [Pernia Qureshi and Kunal Rawal] deserve full marks for choosing/making the trendy outfits. Diego Rodriguez’s cinematography is appealing. Music composer Amit Trivedi is in form, displaying his versatility in various numbers such as ‘Shaam’, ‘Suno Aisha’ and ‘Gal Mitthi Mitthi Bol’.

The film opens with Indian Military Intelligence suspecting a plot to disrupt and paralyze Kashmir and an attempt to do a successful repeat of what was a failed attempt in 1989. That’s breaking of the state of Kashmir away from India, hand in glove with Pakistan. A retired paramilitary commando Vikram (Sanjay Dutt) is sent to investigate and avert it. In Kashmir, he goes undercover posing as press photographer Gul Jehangir. Haji (Kher) an influential separatist leader has had 17 attempts on his life so far in the last 18 years and Vikram through his sources concludes that last attempt on his life was an insider’s job. He succeeds in gaining the trust of Haji’s protégé Aziza (Bipasha) and convinces her that there is another attack planned on his life. Atif (Kunal Kapoor) a former militant and love interest of Aziza who has had a fall out with Haji hopes to bring peace to the valley by participating in the upcoming state elections. But then as Vikram digs further he realizes the mess has only got deeper. Nothing is actually what it seems and there is hardly any one who can be trusted.

‘Dil Kabaddi’ Hindi Movie Review:

In the present age of instant attractions and repulsions, seven years is a painfully long time for the post-marital itch to set in. Husbands with roving eyes and reluctant wives often get a kick of hormones to indulge in some extra-marital sexual adventures. Bold though it may sound, this is the theme of Dil Kabaddi , a sex comedy revolving around the tangled lives of two married couples.

amit ( Irrfan Khan ) and Mita ( Soha Ali Khan ) are married but not made for each other.

He loves to experiment in bed and wants a sexually aggressive wife, but Mita is an intellectual who cherishes delicate moments of love and wants to go slow with her sexually impatient husband.
Expectedly, Irrfan falls for his curvy aerobics instructor ( Payal Rohatgi ) who is a sex bomb with a defused intellect.
The wedge in Samit and Mita’s marriage forces their friends Rishi ( Rahul Bose ) and Simi ( Konkona Sen Sharma ) to ponder over their dull married life. Deep within, Rishi, a professor, is tormented (pleasantly though) by sexual fantasies about his student Raga (Saba), while Simi, an agony aunt for a magazine, finds herself getting attracted to Veer ( Rahul Khanna ), an art director nursing a heart break. But, willy-nilly, Simi ends up playing a matchmaker between Veer and Mita (Soha).
How this tangle of adulterous flings plays out for each character is what ‘Dil Kabaddi’ is about.
Director Anil Senior takes inspiration from Wood Allen’s ‘Husbands and Wives’ and gives it a desi spin by tilting the story more towards sex than relational complexities. ‘Dil Kabaddi’ starts off pretty well but gets repetitive in the second half when you find the same ribaldry being played out over again in different situations. The story keeps spiraling in circles till the fag end when the director probably realizes that the freaking plot is heading nowhere and tries to give it a definitive direction.

What keeps your interest from waning is the performances by Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen and Soha. Irrfan appears as if he’s just had a shot of the world’s most potent aphrodisiac, while Soha is effectively restrained and uptight. Konkona is highly expressive and Rahul Bose manages to impress despite his accented dialogue delivery. Rahul Khanna seems laidback and disinterested in his role. Payal Rohatgi fits the role of a bimbo who stimulates passion in the opposite sex.
‘Dil Kabaddi’ does have a few funny sequences, but overall the film fails to deliver what it promised. It neither gives you ample laughs, nor does it sex you up. And that’s a pity.
